I really liked their fish porridge, which tasted like it was made with fresh fish. The flavor was surprisingly delicious and very fresh. Every dish was carefully prepared and perfectly suited to my taste.

We accidentally came across this place after a different place closed, and we were SO impressed. There weren't too many people there, so it was nice that we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. The service was kind, and attentive, although you do have to order online. The food though was so great. Had noodles, fried rice, and some sautéed string beans. Most importantly , the kids really loved it :)

This is a mom and pop Cantonese restaurant that I will be coming back to! Came here for breakfast with my family and it was a great meal to start our morning. SERVICE: 4/5 We arrived on Sunday early morning and it wasn't crowded. We got seated immediately and ordered on our phone after scanning the QR code located on the table. There was only one server who was working hard so it was understandable. I appreciated how she did her best to give the quickest service! FOOD: 5/5 We ordered the Shrimp Rice Roll, Beef Noodle Soup, Chicken and Mushroom Clay Pot, and of course their famous Pan Fried Vermicelli! Every dish was delicious and met all the expectations. It was my first time trying the pan fried vermicelli and I kept on adding more to my plate. Overall, all the food was enjoyable and filling! AMBIANCE: 4/5 The decor was modern and simple. Sitting in here was comfortable as my family and I enjoyed our meal. PARKING: 5/5 This restaurant is located in a plaza so there were plenty of parking.

If you're a big fan of authentic hole-in-the-wall mom-and-pop places, then head to Happy Morning! They have some rare authentic dishes that taste just like in Hong Kong - while everyone is raving about the pan-fried vermicelli (it is delicious, but not my favorite) they have so many other dishes that are worth a try because they are harder to find. For example, the bojaifan or crisped rice claypot rice is executed with perfection - the beauty is in the crisped rice (in this instance in a metal pot, but tastes just as good). You can tell whether the chef knows what they are doing by evaluating the crust/crisped rice at the bottom and sides of the pot - it is perfectly and evenly crisp on all sides, no burn spots. This dish alone was heaven. I got the one with the minced pork and salted fish. Don't order this if you have cancer or are worried about getting cancer from the salted fish. Order the other bojaifan choices. But once in a long while only this taste can be had so it must be ordered lol. Much to my family's chagrin. The cold hand-shredded chicken was literally perfection also. A free range chicken, lightly poached, then shredded and tossed in sesame seeds, gorgeously slivered green onions, and sesame oil. Served with a side of mild sweet soy sauce. Heaven! The flavors here are authentic and on point. The key here is the excellent do-fat "knife skill" of the chef - the green onions were literally shredded into the prettiest wisps. The flavors are simple, pure, and on point. He knows authentic Cantonese cooking. They also have some Toishan specialities - and I wish I had four stomachs lol so I could try more. Next time!! The wonton noodle soup was just ok, the noodles were perfectly al dente and toothsome but I prefer my wontons with shrimp and a lot bigger. The wonton wrappers were perfectly thin and silky though. I have had other dishes here - the beef stew noodles are stellar. They have egg puff waffles, citron honey tea, and so many cha chaan teng staples that are hard to find. While I love Delicious Food Corner and other local favorites Happy Morning is in that happy place of an up-and-coming upstart that hasn't gotten famous yet. I suggest coming here before they start having lines around the block! The service is simple and courteous, it is literally a mom and pop shop so do not expect white glove service - these are kind and hardworking folks doing their best in a rough economy. I wish them all the best and will be back each time I am in town to explore more of their delicious menu. While it's a hole-in-the-wall, their decor is super modern, clean and inviting. I like that the tables and banquets aren't sticky lol. This place is a hidden gem!! Literally tucked in the back right pocket next to Vons. Just go!! The food is delicious!!

This place is pretty hidden in the shopping center and we stumbled upon it while checking out all the other dining options in the same shopping center. It was a first visit but the food is legit and of the Cantonese cuisine. We ordered the Pan Fried Vermicelli with beef stew, signature beef stew with noodles and dried scallops Chinese sausage with vegetable rice. The first two items came out quickly but for some reason, the rice took much longer. The rice comes with a side of soup (no pic). They were pretty busy at lunch and the one downside is that they only had one person working the front of house. Hope that's not a regular but it also wasn't as horrible as it could have been given there must have been 12 tables plus to go orders. You need to get one of the pan fried vermicellis as you just don't find that in many places and they make it nice and crunchy. Check out my pics.

Fast service and good food! This restaurant is tucked away in the back corner of a large plaza, so there's plenty of free parking. We ordered the pan fried vermicelli, Hainan chicken, and mapo tofu. The pan fried vermicelli was very crispy on the outside with noodles and veggies on the inside. Hainan chicken tasted really clean and not overly salty, and the mapo tofu had huge chunks of tofu which I liked. Service was friendly and prompt.

[ Background ] July 2024 on a Saturday at 3:00 PM My parents immigrated from Toisan, so I grew up eating savory tong jyun or tangyuan ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tangyuan_(food) ). I remember having this warm, comforting meal during the cold Midwest winters when I still lived in Michigan. It's been a long time since I last ate it, and I've been craving it lately. Searching on Yelp and Google was futile because I only received results for the sweet dessert version. However, I posted on the SGV Eats Facebook page, and somebody mentioned that Happy Morning actually has this Toisanese dish. Therefore, I decided to check it out for lunch. The restaurant is tucked away in the southeast corner of the plaza, between Vons and Rite Aid. The inside looks modern and inviting with gray seats and wooden accents on the chairs, tables, and walls. There are booths for larger parties, big tables for up to four people, and smaller tables for up to two people. Hanging lamps and ceiling lights provide ample lighting. It was refreshingly cool inside from the air conditioning, which I appreciated since it was extremely hot outside. Because I was eating alone and there was plenty of open space (only three other parties were present), I was able to choose my own table. Physical menus were already conveniently set on the table along with a plastic sign displaying a QR code; after scanning it with my phone camera, I was directed to the online menu/ordering system. If you want to explore the menu in advance, there's a version with pictures available on their website ( https://www.happymorningkitchen.com/ ). Click "Online Order" and then "Continue as guest". Because this menu is tied to online ordering, the prices are up-to-date. Many common items are conveniently provided at the table, such as napkins, white pepper, soy sauce, chopsticks, spoons, and hand sanitizer. This operational decision along with the online ordering system shows how the restaurant focuses on a customer self-service approach. [ Food ] Because I already looked over the menu extensively beforehand, I immediately ordered: * E8. Shrimp rice roll ($6.99) This dish consisted of soft, mild rice rolls topped with shrimp and a delicious sweet soy sauce, all plated on a stainless steel tray. It's basically identical to the shrimp rice rolls (ha cheung) served at dim sum restaurants, although there are slight variations: The shrimp are cut up instead of served whole, these rice rolls have more wrinkles, and scallions are sprinkled on top. * B1. Special salty chicken with fish cake, glutinous rice balls ($15.99) This classic Toisanese dish came in a large bowl filled with delicious, savory broth and an abundance of different ingredients. Of course, it contained chewy glutinous rice balls, the star of the show, nestled next to savory Chinese sausage, fish cake, sliced shiitake mushrooms, soft daikon radish, tender napa cabbage, and green onions. The salty chicken laid at the bottom, submerged below all the other ingredients. I didn't know they added cilantro to this dish at this restaurant; it's pretty mild, but if I knew beforehand, I would've omitted it since I don't like the herb. My order wasn't as flavorful as the tong jyun I ate growing up but was similar enough. Overall, it was tasty, and my craving was satisfied. I would highly recommend both these dishes even if you're not familiar with the cuisine. The flavors are not super foreign and should be palatable to newcomers. It seems most of the items at this restaurant are on the larger side and probably meant to be shared. But if you're a big eater like me, you'll be fine. I will definitely have to come back to try their popular and highly-rated pan-fried vermicelli dishes. [ Service ] Both of my dishes came out within 10 minutes, so the service was pretty quick (I was the only customer still ordering food, so I can't speak on the speediness during a lunch or dinner rush). The online ordering system was pretty intuitive, but you do have to pay in-store, so when I was finished, I had to flag the server down, and she promptly brought over a paper receipt. [ Tips ] Parking is extremely easy since the restaurant is located in a large plaza with other restaurants, grocery stores, and businesses. There are Yelp comments saying there's a $25.00 minimum if you use a credit card to pay, or there'll be a $1.00 fee. However, I wasn't subject to such a charge; maybe they got rid of it or that minimum is based on the post-tax total (mine was $25.16). I added a tip using the online ordering system, and it automatically showed up on the receipt under "Gratuity". Note that this tip is calculated post-tax. I noticed there's additional space on the receipt to add a tip (I'm assuming this is just in case you didn't tip through the website). So make sure not to accidentally tip twice.

Really cute and modern interior! The fried vermicelli was great and my son loved it as well. Their HK style milk tea was also on point. The service was friendly! We will be back.

My sister came across this spot and I'm so glad she did! Food is delicious, service is great and the price point isn't bad at all! It's tuck in the back corner, so it might be easy to miss. If you see Vons, look to the left and you'll see it there!
